From High School to...
Happily Ever After!
Some love stories that feel meant to be from the very beginning, and Alex and Jimena’s is exactly that kind of story. From a playful moment on their high school field day to a romantic proposal in London, and finally, a stunning wedding day at Le Méridien Tampa, every chapter of their relationship has been filled with joy, adventure, and so much love.
As a Florida and Pennsylvania wedding photographer, I’m honored to capture stories like theirs: filled with personality, depth, and meaningful detail.
How They Met:
Alex and Jimena first met during their junior year of high school... on the very last day, no less! What began as a light-hearted water balloon toss (Jimena may or may not have accidentally hit Alex) turned into a chase and, eventually, the start of something lifelong. Years later, on December 17, 2024, Alex proposed to Jimena in front of a fountain at Regent’s Park. Though he tried to be subtle, she caught on quickly. And of course she said yes.
“We always have fun together,” they told me. “We communicate really well, we make each other laugh, and we both feel loved and protected in each other's presence.” Their favorite things to do together: playing video games, traveling, trying new foods, and just being near one another.
When it came to choosing a Tampa wedding venue, Alex and Jimena were drawn to the charm and architecture of Le Méridien Tampa. With its regal columns and European-inspired aesthetic, the space reminded them of London (a fitting nod to their proposal location). It also held a bit of humorous irony: the historic courthouse-turned-hotel echoed an earlier idea of possibly eloping!
For couples planning a Florida wedding, Le Méridien is one of Tampa's best wedding venues. It's truly a gem; it combines character, luxury, and downtown Tampa charm. It’s one of my favorite venues as a Tampa wedding photographer and is perfect for timeless, elegant wedding portraits.
Just 15 minutes before their ceremony began, it started to sprinkle... but almost as quickly as it came, the rain stopped. The break in the weather was just enough to walk down the aisle, exchange vows, capture family portraits, and transition into a heartfelt, laughter-filled reception.
Their color palette of dusty blues and golds added a classy and timeless tone to the entire day, mirroring their personalities perfectly. As a Pennsylvania and Florida wedding photographer, I love capturing weddings with soft, romantic color palettes—especially those that highlight both modern and timeless style.
From custom cake pops made by Alex’s aunt to the personalized first-aid kit favors (perfect for the couple’s shared career in the medical field), no detail was left out. Parent dances, emotional toasts, and a sweet mother-daughter dance made the night truly unforgettable. One additional standout moment was Jimena’s father’s speech, which he gave in Spanish. Her brother stood beside him to translate, making it a deeply emotional, bilingual celebration.
After their dreamy honeymoon in St. Lucia, Alex and Jimena are off to their next big adventure: moving to Georgia to attend grad school together!! Their wedding day felt like the perfect sendoff: a celebration of where they’ve been and where they’re going, surrounded by the people who love them most. I am so honored to have been part of it.
Congrats to the Dorsetts!!! 🤍
